This course involves students developing practical skills which cover a wide range of activities in the design and manufacturing industry. You will develop their understanding of the design process and the manufacture of products as well as developing your knowledge and use of IT within the field of design. Students will also learn about design communication and relevance of design in today s society. As well as developing some important transferable skills particularly decision making, time management and independence. Students that take this course should have keen interest in design and technology. They should possess good graphic and practical skills and enthusiasm for design. They should be able to work independently and with others demonstrating good organisational skills and time management. Students should be creative and should be able to use their own initiative. You will learn through focussed practical tasks and theory sessions. The course itself will be assessed through practical coursework projects and written examinations. A degree or foundation degree could than follow this course which could lead to various career opportunities in interior design, product design, fashion design, package design, design engineering or architecture.
