They should have already achieved a grade B in English Language, Mathematics and the Chemistry modules of Additional Science. 'A' level Chemistry is a demanding course both in terms of commitment to the subject and academic ability. A good command of the English Language and sound mathematical skills are essential. Why study this subject? This is an academic 'A' level. It is a valuable qualification leading directly to employment or is a route in to higher education colleges and universities. The course will prepare students for a variety of careers including medicine, nursing, dentistry, engineering, computing, environmental health, the pharmaceutical industry, agriculture and teaching. Course content: Chemistry 'A' level consists of 4 exam units (80% of the final grade) and 2 centre assessed practical exams (20% of the final grade). The exam units include: Foundation of Chemistry; Chemistry in Action; Kinetics, Equilibria and Organic Chemistry; Energetics, Redox and Inorganic Chemistry.
