The textile design course offers the opportunity to develop skills over a broad range of textile and fashion techniques and applications, such as printing, weaving, knitting, mixed media, digital applications, surface design, and embroidery. Why study Textiles? You have a real love for Textiles and want to explore the exciting possibilities that this constantly evolving subject offers. AS Modules Unit 1 You will experiment with a range of techniques that allow you to explore ideas through research and experimentation. The development of your ideas are presented in both sketchbook format and as practical outcomes. Unit 2 The externally set assignment has a broad thematic starting point and is intended to build on the knowledge, skill, understanding and independence you have gained from Unit 1. There is a timed element of 10 hours. A2 Modules Unit 3 A personal project building on the knowledge and experience you have gained during the AS course. You will develop and refine ideas for original practical work supported by a linked personal study. This unit includes a written element of no less than 1,000 words. Unit 4 The externally set assignment has a broad thematic starting point and represents the culmination of the knowledge and experience you have gained throughout the course. There is a timed element of 15 hours.
