What is Photography? Photography is a course where you can capture the world around you through imagery. Why study Photography? If you are interested in capturing the world around you through the power of imagery you may want a career in media design or just have a strong interest and enjoyment in telling a story with a picture. You want to study Photography because you have an interest in the subject and are keen to do the work. AS Modules Unit 1 - Personal Portfolio of Work Students are required to work in one or more area(s) of Photography, such as those listed below. They may explore overlapping areas and combinations of areas: Portraiture Landscape Photography (working from the urban, rural and/or coastal environment) Still Life Photography (working from objects or from the natural world) Documentary Photography, Photojournalism Fashion Photography Experimental Imagery Multimedia Photographic Installation Moving Image (video, film, animation) Unit 2 - Preparatory experimentation time set by your Art teacher from 1 February where you will experiment, develop ideas; explore artwork by visiting galleries and exhibitions. A 10 hour timed examination to produce a personal response. A2 Modules Unit 1 - This is a practical investigation supported by written material. Students are required to conduct a practical investigation into an idea, issue, concept or theme, supported by written material. The focus of the investigation must be identified independently by the student and must lead to a finished outcome or a series of related finished outcomes. Unit 2 - Preparatory experimentation time set by your Art teacher from 1 February where you will experiment, develop ideas; explore artwork by visiting galleries and exhibitions. A 15 hour timed examination to produce a personal response.
