Information and Communication Technology (ICT) looks at the ways in which data is handled and processed in an evolving, information-based society. Why study ICT? ICT engages the logical and creative parts of your personality and helps you develop a number of new skills including: how to assemble data and assess its quality, how to investigate facts and use deduction, how to put over your point of view fluently, how to work as a team to achieve results. AS Modules Unit 1 - INFO1 Practical Problem Solving in the Digital World In this unit you make practical use of a range of applications software, hardware and communication technologies to address several different types of problems. Sample material is taken into the examination. You will answer questions on the processes involved and the evidence you have produced. Unit 2 - INFO2 Living in the Digital World Subject content includes: - An ICT System and its Components - Data and Information - People and ICT Systems - Transfer of Data in ICT Systems - Safety and Security of Data in ICT Systems - Backup and Recovery - The Consequences of the Use of ICT. A2 Modules Unit 3 - INFO3 The Use of ICT in the Digital World Subject content includes: - The Use of ICT in the Digital World - Technology Developments - How to Manage ICT Projects. - Use of ICT Solutions Within Organisations. Unit 4 - INFO4 Coursework: Practical Issues Involved in the Use of ICT in the Digital World In this unit you will get hands-on experience by conceiving, designing and implementing a real ICT-related system.
