To gain industry recognised standards in barbering this course will cover health and safety, consultation with clients, shampoo, condition and treat the hair and scalp, cut hair using basic barbering techniques, cut facial hair to shape using basic techniques, dry and finish men’s hair and create basic patterns in hair. Creating a positive impression of yourself and the business you work for is part of the course to ensure that employability skills are learned as well as developing effectiveness at work through team building and working to targets. Assessments are done in the salon environment on paying clients. Progression from this course is onto Level 3 Hairdressing if Level 2 Hairdressing has been completed. Learners attend at least 1 day a week plus extra days if you are may be required to take a maths and English GCSE resit or Functional Skills qualification at level 1 or 2. Plus all learners will do a work experience placement in a salon or barbers at least 1 day per week ideally. Those students who are on an Apprenticeship will attend at least 1 day per week as part of full time employment.
