To gain industry recognised standards in beauty therapy this course will cover Colouring hair using Matrix products with additional Matrix training, health and safety, consultation skills and customer care, shampoo and condition hair, style and finish hair which may include styles for evening hair or special occasion, set and dress hair and Cutting hair. Creating a positive impression of yourself and the business you work for is part of the course to ensure that employability skills are learned as well as developing effectiveness at work through team building and working to targets. Assessments are done in the salon environment on paying clients. Progression from this course is onto Level 3 Hairdressing or Level 2 Beauty or L2 Barbering. This is classed as a full time course as you will attend at least two days a week plus extra days if you are may be required to take a maths and English GCSE resit or Functional Skills qualification at level 1 or 2. Plus all learners will do a work experience placement in a salon or spa at least 1 day per week ideally. Those on an Apprenticeship programme will attend at least 1 day per week as part of full time employment.
