Religious Studies AS Level

The course looks at the social, political, philosophical and religious background of the construction and formation of the four Gospels. It also addresses different interpretations of the Bible, such as Liberalism, Literalism, Conservative and Fundamental approaches. Using areas such as biblical criticism, including source, narrative, form and redaction. A selected range of parables and miracles are studied. Finally a study of similarities and differences via the gospels of the Passion and Resurrection are studied.

Name: Religious Studies AS Level Qualification title: GCE AS Level in Religious Studies Qualification type: Assessment Students will be expected to meet the assessment criteria, through linking their knowledge and understanding. At A Level the students will be required to demonstrate their knowledge, understanding and skills in greater depth and over a wider range of content than at AS. Students will select and demonstrate clearly relevant knowledge and critically evaluate and justify a point of view through the use of evidence and reasoned argument.
