Unit 1: Understanding Dance Written paper, 1 hour 30 minutes. This unit comprises of two sections, A and B. Both structured and essay style questions will be set on the dancer as a performer, the process and craft of choreography and the significance of dances. The dancer as a performer: Knowledge and understanding of the demands made in practice and performance on the dancer, including correct alignment, posture, joints, fitness and performance skills. The process and craft of choreography: Including consistent features of a dance, developing ideas, structuring materials and the rehearsal process. The significance of dances: analysing the dance in terms of character qualities, meaning/interpretation and clarity of choreographic intention. Unit 2: Choreography and Performance Practical coursework Section A: Solo choreography and performance Choreograph and perform a solo dance two to three minutes in length. Choice of one question from a range released by AQA. Section B: Performance in a duo/trio Any style or genre with or without aural accompaniment and it should last three or four minutes
