WHAT SKILLS WILL YOU DEVELOP? You will: Develop your acting, directing and design skills. Devise your own pieces of drama and work from published scripts. Gain a broad understanding of the social, cultural and historical context of a play. Analyse and evaluate live theatre productions and study a key text. Develop key communication skills. HOW IS THE COURSE STRUCTURED? You will have the opportunity to: Direct and act in a production and analyse your rehearsals. Study the context of a play and how it can be interpreted in performance. Go to the theatre and write an evaluative commentary. Devise your own drama and learn the theoretical and practical approaches to design, lighting and sound. Gain a broad understanding of theatre history, the theatre of different cultures and different genres and styles of theatre. A2 UNITS 20% Internally assessed/externally moderated coursework. 15% Externally assessed practical15% Externally assessed 2 hour written paper FUTURE OPPORTUNITIES WITH DRAMA An AS/'A' Level in Drama and Theatre Studies will provide access to a range of career opportunities which are recognised by colleges and employers. Drama students develop excellent communication, improvisation and problem solving skills, have the ability to work creatively in a team and can present a required image to the public. Many employers look for these qualities in a potential candidate. An AS/'A' Level in Drama and Theatre Studies can be combined with any other Expressive Arts subjects, English, Design and Technology or Media and can lead to HND or BA Hons Performing Arts related courses.
