Drama and Theatre Studies

UPDATED 20160919 12:12:07

Drama and Theatre Studies offers the opportunity for an active and exciting creative education through the disciplines of Drama and Theatre. This is a highly regarded course which involves taking part in practical Drama work alongside academic study of the Theatre. We have the use of the designated Drama Studio with lighting, sound and technical equipment as well as the new Drama Teaching Room that offers a large rehearsal space. The course is very demanding and will require a high level of commitment; you must be prepared to take part in practical rehearsals outside of lesson times and theatre trips, as well as completing home based learning activities and background reading. Consequently, students taking this course must be careful about outside commitments (part-time jobs etc.) which may interfere with these demands. The course is highly regarded by employers and Higher Education institutions as they recognise the level of commitment and responsibility that Drama students dedicate. Students with this qualification will be able to apply to a wide range of Higher Education courses as well as options for training or employment in the creative and performing arts industries. There is an increasing demand from employers on all disciplines for qualifications involving transferable skills such as communication, creativity and teamwork. Drama enables you to develop these skills to a high level making you a strong candidate in the ever-changing employment market.
