This qualification structure consists of one mandatory unit, which learners must complete successfully in order to achieve the qualification: H/506/0792 Emergency Paediatric First Aid Learners will cover the following topics during the course: - The role and responsibilities of the paediatric first aider - How to assess an emergency situation safely - Be able to provide first aid for an infant and a child who is unresponsive and breathing normally - Be able to provide first aid for an infant and a child who is unresponsive and not breathing normally - Be able to provide first aid for an infant and a child who has a foreign body airway obstruction - Be able to provide first aid to an infant and a child with external bleeding - Understand how to provide first aid to an infant and a child who is suffering from shock - Understand how to provide first aid to an infant and a child with anaphylaxis

Name: Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid Qualification title: Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid (QCF) Qualification type: Assessment Practical assessment of learners is completed throughout the course delivery. This ongoing assessment will involve learners demonstrating practical first aid skills across a number of areas. Learners are also required to answer a series of written questions ensuring their understanding of the theory content is sufficient to meet the required standard. Oral questioning can be used to extract further information to supplement the learners written responses. In addition oral questioning may be used during practical assessments and learner responses will be documented by the tutor.
