In the AS year of this course you will complete 2 units. The first is a theoretical module which requires the application of physiological and psychological knowledge to understand the opportunities for and effects of leading a healthy lifestyle. The second unit is performance based and involves the analysis and evaluation of physical activity as a performer and/or in adopted role(s). Candidates are assessed in their practical capabilities in two sports. The A2 consists of the two further units. The first is a theoretical module requiring candidates to apply physiological and psychological understanding to optimising performance and evaluating contemporary issues within sport. The final unit assesses candidates' practical performance in a competitive situation. Candidates are assessed on their performance in a game/competition situation as well as their ability to analyse their own performance strengths and weaknesses through written coursework
