Introduction to Early Year’s Education and Care – Level 2

If you want to work with children and young people this course will help you take the first steps into a career in the profession. The course will help you to develop a range of skills to enable you to work with children and young people from birth to 8 years and through a work experience placement you will get the chance to put the skills you learn in the classroom into practice in a real-life setting working alongside qualified staff. We have a very good success rate on this course and excellent feedback from our past students, many of whom have gone on to become family support workers, nursery managers and social workers or progressed to higher levels of study such as HNCs, HNDs, foundation degrees or university degrees. Extended Description You will do lots of practical work and will cover lots of different skills including: • Children and young people’s development • Personal development • Safeguarding • Children and young people’s behaviour • Working in partnership • Communication • Positive environments • Equality and diversity • Health and safety Once you have completed this course, you will be able to go onto study the Level 3 Early Years Education and Care course* or progress onto a Level 3 Apprenticeship, where you will develop your skills further and then be ready to go and work in the industry. *please note to undertake a Level 3 course Early Years Education and Care you will need both GCSE English & maths at grade C. The college can help you take resits. There will also be a requirement for you to undertake a placement in a relevant setting such as a day nursery or preschool setting. We run a series of taster session’s during the year for you to come and have a go at Childcare to see if this is the right choice for you.

Name: Introduction to Early Year’s Education and Care – Level 2 Qualification title: Certificate in Introduction to Early Year’s Education and Care – Level 2 Qualification type: NVQ and relevant components Assessment You will be assessed throughout the year using your portfolio of evidence and observations in a placement. Whilst taking one of our full-time courses you will also complete a programme of Functional Skills or GCSE’s which could comprise of a combination of English and Maths. These qualifications are an essential requirement for employment progression, higher education and other further education courses.
