A Level History is a challenging and reqarding subject which is widely valued by both universities and employers. An A Level in history opens many doors to a range of careers and future study. The History department staff are well trained and passionate about the topics studied at A Level. It is that personal enthusiasm which inspires our students to develop their own passion and enthusiasm for the subject. Name: History A Level Qualification title: History A Level Qualification type: Assessment Throughout the duration of the 2 year course students prepare for 3 examination units and 1 piece of coursework which is internally assesed and externally moderated. Students are well prepared for the examination units; core skills and success criteria are imbedded into lessons, allowing students to build and develop exam confidence throughout the duration of their course. For all units of study students can expect an amount of set reading. Students are also expected to engage independently in wider reading and research around the topics, which is an essential part of developing knowledge and contextual understanding of the historical issues studied. History is a highly literate subject, so students can also expect to engage frequently with written tasks, whether it be note taking or preparing exam style essays or analysis.
