The Level 2 Construction Diploma will help you develop a wide range of skills, including carrying out first and second fixing, manufacturing joinery products and using appropriate tools, depending on whether you choose to follow the site carpentry or bench joinery route. To be a qualified tradesperson you will need to complete the NVQ Level 2 and 3 in your chosen trade. The NVQ is a work-orientated qualification which requires you to build a portfolio of evidence; therefore, you should be suitably employed in a related role. If you are under 23 and have relevant employment, you could follow the Apprenticeship route. Units include safe working practices, information, quantities and communicating with others, building methods and construction technology, carry out first fix and second fix (site carpentry), produce setting out details and mark out for routine joinery products (bench joinery), erect structural carcassing (site carpentry and manufacture routine joinery products (bench joinery).
