As the class system began to break down, writers seemed to be energised. The late-1950s saw a blossoming of talent, particularly among the group labelled as 'Angry Young Men'. Poetry and drama was especially strong, with Philip Larkin, John Osborne and Harold Pinter all producing seminal work. This course focuses on literature and social history, but also includes a case study of late-1950s cinema. Set Texts: John Braine Room at the Top; John Osborne Look Back in Anger; Shelagh Delaney A Taste of Honey.
