Raphael in Renaissance Rome

UPDATED 20151027 18:42:30

This course illustrates and celebrates the genius of Raphael, focusing on his final twelve years in Rome. Here he worked chiefly for two of the most flamboyant Renaissance popes, and a highly civilised banker. We look closely at his complex and dynamic frescoes for the papal apartments, and his decoration of the Farnese Villa. Considerable attention is also given to Raphael's portraits and drawings.
