Ancient History: Meet the Romans Part 2

Emperor Augustus now reigns supreme but has to overcome the problem of the imperial succession together with dealing with problematic provinces such as Britannia. We look at the art of the Empire together the Roman technology of machines of war, road building and building bridges.Being a Roman woman is discussed together with lives of slaves. Life and death in Pompeii and Herculaneum is discussed together with evidence of town architecture, wall paintings and Pliny's account of the eruption of Vesuvius.We end by looking at Nero's 'Golden House' and his untimely suicide soon after.
