Course Description This course really offers an opportunity to make the most of your practical skills as well as giving you the knowledge you need to prepare for the construction industry. Our purpose built workshop enables you to develop specialist skills under the expert guidance of industry trained professionals. There are also opportunities to be involved in voluntary projects. We run a series of taster session during the year for you to come and have a go at Construction to see if this is the right choice for you. Extended Description You will cover a diverse range of topics throughout your course. A selection of unit titles is shown below. • Building Solid Walling, Isolated and Attached Piers • Interpret Working Drawings to Set Out Masonry Structures • Build Cavity Walling Forming Masonry Structures It is expected that you would undertake some work experience as part of the course, this is usually in the form of voluntary projects co-ordinated by the tutors. Future Opportunities Once you have completed this course, you will be able to go onto study the Level 3 Bricklaying course or progress onto a Level 2 Apprenticeship, where you will develop your skills further and then be ready to go and work in the industry. You can go onto site to be a general labourer from this course.

Name: Bricklaying - Level 2 Qualification title: C&G NVQ Diploma in Trowel Occupations (Construction) (QCF) L2 Qualification type: NVQ and relevant components Assessment You will be assessed at the end of each unit, this will be through a multiple choice knowledge test and a practical assessment. Whilst taking one of our full-time courses you will also complete a programme of Functional Skills which could comprise of a combination of English and Math. These Functional Skills are an essential requirement for employment progression, higher education and other further education courses.
