In A-Level Textiles students are required to include practical and critical/contextual work using a range of textile techniques and processes. These could include fashion design, fashion textiles, costume design, digital textiles, printed and/or dyed fabrics and materials, domestic textiles, interior design, constructed textiles, art textiles and installed textiles. Textile Design encompasses a very broad range of materials, techniques and processes, including a growing number of inter-disciplinary approaches. These comprise woven, embroidered, knitted, printed, painted, dyed, manipulated, embellished and constructional methods which are utilised to produce a great variety of textile outcomes that include costume and fashion design, accessories and body adornment. The range is increasing as new materials and technologies emerge. Students will be introduced to the wide range of textile techniques and process through short projects at the beginning of year 12. They will then negotiate an extended project called a personal creative enquiry.
