This is a popular choice for students as it is a challenging but enjoyable options. The first year of study will focus on: Biological molecules; cells, organisms exchange substances with their environment; and genetic information, variation and relationships between organisms. The second year of study will focus on: Energy transfers in and between organisms; organisms respond to changes in their internal and external environments; genetics, populations, evolution and ecosystems; and the control of gene expression. Students are expected to attend a residential fieldwork course in the final half term of the 1st year. This opportunity is used to teach students the practical skills required to successfully tackle the 2nd year of the course.
