Studying Applied Art and Design at South Craven School will encourage you to develop and realise your true creative potential. You will use and understand visual language to stimulate your ideas and explore the styles and influences of different artists. Working with a wide variety of materials and techniques will encourage you to become more independent and experimental. The curriculum will enable you to practise and refine your skills and will include drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking, photography and digital imagery. Learning how to keep a visual diary or sketchbook will not only form an important part of your coursework but will become an essential tool in your creative thinking. This course will also encourage you to explore your creative mind and help you develop a firm basis in the skills, understanding and knowledge that employers across many industries are looking for. You will have a number of opportunities to participate in workshops led by visiting artists who will also offer professional advice on producing a confident and personal portfolio facilitating your progress to higher education
