Course Description This course is the starting point to becoming a fully-qualified motor vehicle technician. You will learn all the basic skills to get you going and will develop your skills in routine car maintenance. You will work on both new and old cars and get a feel of what it is like to work in real workshop environment. We run a series of taster session during the year for you to come and have a go at Motor Vehicle to see if this is the right choice for you. Extended Description You will cover a diverse range of topics throughout your course. A selection of unit titles is shown below: Light Vehicle Construction and Routine Maintenance Operating Principles of Light Vehicle Engines, Tyres, Brakes, Steering and Suspension Systems Operating Principles and Maintenance of Light Vehicle Transmission Systems and Electrical and Electronic Systems Students also gain a broad knowledge and understanding of health and safety in the workplace and other skills associated with working in a garage.
Name: Motor Vehicle – Level 1 Qualification title: Certificate in Motor Vehicle Studies (QCF) Qualification type: Assessment You will be assessed throughout the year using your portfolio of evidence and tests. There is an online exam which assesses the Health and Safety aspect of the course. Whilst taking one of our full-time courses you will also complete a programme of Functional Skills which could comprise of a combination of English, Math and ICT. These Functional Skills are an essential requirement for employment progression, higher education and other further education courses.
