What do you think about a sixth airport for London? Would you holiday in the Antarctic? How about working in the world's largest industry? What damage are tourists doing in remote areas like Nepal? Using discussion, research, videos and visits you will explore the technological and socio-economic reasons for the continuing growth of Travel and Tourism, both in the UK and overseas. You will study units focussing on the organisations that make up the Travel and Tourism industries, Customer Service (which involves a practical assessment currently assessed by BA), The Business of Tourism and The UK as a Tourist Destination. There is also the potential to undertake a work placement within the industry as well as study some of the evolving tourism destinations and many current issues currently impacting on the industry. The course has been planned so that students will cover the units required for achieving the certificate level at the end of the first year. This is an exciting, eye opening course that can lead to endless opportunities, literally all over the world!
