Spanish AS/A Level

In the two year A Level course you will engage in a wide range of activities and skills in lessons which will be delivered by native speakers. You will increase your knowledge and understanding of aspects of the society and history of Spain as well as other Spanish-speaking countries. The course will focus on social issues, politics, current affairs and intellectual culture, past and present, through literature and cinema. It will also help to develop your critical thinking skills with critical analysis and evaluataion of the above topics. The AS course is a stand alone qualification which will not count towrds the A Level final grade. This course covers two of the four themes of the A Level course. At A Level Spanish you will also need to demonstrate your ability to conduct research on a subject of personal interest. You will have the opportunity to speak Spanish in the classroom and in small conversation groups. In addition to speaking in class, you will have a session with the Spanish assistant once a week. You will become confident in the use of tenses and complex grammatical structures. You will broaden your vocabulary and will develop translating skills. There will be oppotunities to take part in a one-week Exchange Visit with our partner school in Alicante in the first year and a week of work experience in the second year with our other partner school in Madrid.
