The BTEC Music Technology course introduces students to some of the skills and techniques required by the studio musician, whether as a composer, producer or sound engineer. The course centres on the use of recording equipment and music software and is very practical. Students are encouraged to gain an understanding of the historical impact of music technology on recording, and to listen to a range of contemporary music, recognising and assessing how musicians use music technology in today’s world. The course is also supported by visiting performers, workshops and external visits. This qualification is a two-year course, equivalent to one A level. During the course you will undertake ten units in Music Technology, covering such subjects as setting up and capturing recordings, live sound engineering, composing, using software instruments and audio files, listening and analysing sound, and creating sound and music for the moving image
