Will the course give me what I want? Course content This is a full time course which is designed to develop the knowledge and skills needed by people who want to work in the people management, public safety, security, enforcement and all uniformed public service industries. Students will also develop a broad range of general skills including communicating with others, working in a team, problem solving and presentation skills. Outline of skills and knowledge Topics of study are selected from the following units: Public Service Skills Career Planning for the Public Services Improving Health and Fitness for Entry to the Uniformed Public Services Employment in the Uniformed Public Services Citizenship, the Individual and Society Health and Safety in the Public Service Workplace Adventurous Activities and Teamwork for the Public Services Sport and Recreation in the Public Services Land Navigation by Map and Compass Law and its Impact on the Individual in Public Services Crime and its Effects on Society Community and Cultural Awareness Expedition Skills in Public Services Attending Emergency Incidents in Public Services Security Procedures in the Public Services Research in Public Services Volunteering in Public Services ICT and the Public Services Additional courses of study offered: Functional Skills in English or GCSE English and Maths (dependant on entry requirements being met). Through a combination of theory and practical work e.g. drills and leadership skills.
