This short course is designed for primary school teachers (Key Stages 1&2) wanting to gain further Art & Design experience and expertise within the classroom. Also open to anyone wanting to gain experience in a range of 2D & 3D Art & Design processes. No previous experience necessary. What will I Study: 2D - Drawing, Painting, Printmaking, Surface Design . 3D - Sculpture - modelling and construction . Sketchbooks - idea development & artists' research. 2D . Week 1 - TRIP to William Morris Gallery - Sketchbook drawings & research . Week 2 - Drawing from observation - fruit & vegetables. Week 3 - Surface design - Printmaking & stencilling (development from William Morris research). Week 4 - Acrylic Painting & Cut-outs - expressive/abstract . 3D. Week 5 - Modelling in clay - coil pots. Week 6 - Construction - mixed media, mini installation.. Each session will refer to a relevant artist/designer/craftsperson/architect and include use of sketchbooks and focus on 'formal elements' i.e line, tone, colour, shape, form, texture, pattern. The trip to the William Morris Gallery will demonstrate how to use the exhibits & resources to provide primary source material for development into Surface Design and printmaking ideas. What can I do after the course: Deliver inspirational art and design sessions to KS2 pupils.
