Apprenticeships allow you to gain qualifications whilst working – you will normally study one day per week in college and spend the rest of the week at work, where you are in appropriate full time employment. They are available at two levels, the Intermediate and the Advanced Apprenticeship. Accounting skills are in demand by commercial and industrial organisations, central and local government, the NHS and the voluntary sector, as well as by specialist accounting firms. Tasks include recording and accounting for cash and credit transactions and recording payroll transactions. The Intermediate Apprenticeship includes the AAT Level 2 Certificate. The Advanced Apprenticeship leads to the AAT Level 3 Diploma. Completion of the Advanced Apprenticeship can lead to AAT Level 4 Diploma. AAT accounting qualifications are highly desirable and can lead to rapid progression within the workplace.
