This course is for you if you wish to gain a range of skills necessary to work as a professional cook in the Catering and Hospitality sector in the future. This course allows students to learn, develop and practise skills required for employment and/or career progression in the Catering and Hospitality sector.The following 12 units make up the full qualification: -Introduction to the catering and hospitality industry -Food safety in catering -Health and safety awareness for catering and hospitality -Introduction to healthier foods and special diets -Introduction to kitchen equipment -Introduction to personal workplace skills -Prepare and cook food by boiling, poaching and steaming -Prepare and cook food by stewing and braising -Prepare and cook food by baking, roasting and grilling -Prepare and cook food by deep frying and shallow frying -Re-generation of pre-prepared food -Cold food preparation Food Service: -Teamwork -Health, Safety & Security -Food Safety Positive impression -Prepare and clear restaurant -Serve Food Prepare and clear bar area Essential Skills - As well as your chosen subject/s, you will work towards additional qualifications in Maths, English and ICT. These are National qualifications required by employers and institutions of higher education which will play a vital part in your studies. Before starting your course, you will take assessments in Maths and English to make sure that you are working at the right level.
