A Level English Literature is a challenging course that builds on the skills acquired while studying for GCSE English Literature. Students will develop their interest in and enjoyment of literature through reading widely, critically and independently, across centuries, genre, gender, race, and through experience of an extensive range of views about texts and how to read them. You will explore connections and comparisons between texts, as well as considering the significance and influence of the contexts in which they were written and received.

Paper 2: Love through the ages: prose 1 1/2 hour written exam-50% AS level This module involves the study of two prose texts which look at an aspect of love from different time periods.. The exam tests both your unseen, analytical skills and your ability to compare texts across time. Possible texts include 'Jane Eyre', 'The Great Gatsby' and 'Rebecca'.
