Eng. Lang. GCE A Level

UPDATED 20151015 10:32:02

A Level Language is a demanding course that builds on some of the skills developed during the GCSE years. You will be introduced to advanced language study, and you will develop the ability to write for a variety of specific audiences and purposes. AS and A2 are separate courses but will have some overlap. A2 will build upon the content and skills covered at AS. At AS, you will learn how to use linguistic frameworks to analyse texts, enabling you to explore them on a much deeper level. You will also look at how English usage varies around the world. At A2, students undertake an independent, investigative language study. You will be able to pursue areas of individual interest, while developing a creative and critical approach to your studies. You also look at how children acquire language, how language can reflect social values and how language has changed over time as well as analyzing texts as in AS Level.
