The Foundation course is the established method of entry to university degree courses in art, design, craft and communication. Universities offering these courses overwhelmingly prefer applicants to have completed a Foundation Diploma course prior to entry. The Foundation course is an exciting and challenging programme of study, at levels 3 and 4, aimed at post A-level students wishing to acquire the transferable skills and knowledge that will enable them to cope with further study in art and design at university. These skills include self-reliant and independent working, critical thinking, intellectual curiosity and risk-taking. The Foundation Diploma is a programme of study that aims to progressively develop your creative skills throughout the course. You are encouraged to work across traditional subject boundaries as you increasingly pursue your own interests and ideas.
