This is a practical, work related course. You will learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. You will focus on a particular subject area and develop a range of specialist skills and knowledge. The course is suitable for school leavers and adults who would like a career in the IT industries or who are progressing from related level 2 programmes. You will study the following eight mandatory units: - Communication and Employability Skills for IT - Computer Systems - Information Systems - Network Management - Computer Networks - Communication Technologies - IT Technical Support - IT Systems Troubleshooting and Repair and ten selected optional units, which might include: - Client Side Customisation of Web Pages - Digital Graphics - Multi Media Design - Web Server Scripting - System Analysis - Web Site Production - Procedural Programming - Mathematics for IT Practitioners - Home/Small Business Networks (CCNA1 Discovery) - Working at a Small/Medium Business (CCNA2 Discovery) - Routing Switching - Support Computer Network (CCNA4 Discovery) All LMC students will receive tutorial support. All students aged 16 -19 are required to study Functional English and Maths qualifications or GCSE Maths, English if not already awarded an A*-C in these subjects. Students aged 19+ are strongly encouraged to take relevant Maths and English qualifications to support progression into Further or Higher education, training or employment.
