What will I learn about? AS: Anatomy and Physiology, A2: Exercise and Physiology During the AS course students will develop knowledge and skills to help them understand the impact of physiology in sport. Students will focus on the importance of the skeletal-muscular, cardio-vascular and respiratory systems. At A2 students will gain understanding of how physiology can maximise performance. AS: Socio-Cultural Studies, A2: Historical Studies AS focuses on three main areas: Physical activity; Sport and culture and contemporary issues allowing you to evaluate their impact on physical activity. At A2 students will learn how physical activity in 19th-century public school, pre and post-industrial Britain impacted upon and continues to affect participation. AS: Acquiring Movement Skills, A2: Sports Psychology Students will develop at AS an understanding of the acquisition of movement skills in relation to: motor skills, information processing, motor control and the development of new skills. At A2 students will investigate the sports psychology factors, such as individual difference, group dynamics and mental preparation affect participation and improve competence in physical activity.
