Freeman College provides Practical Skills Therapeutic Education and integrated residential care for young people with cognitive learning difficulties. In 2015/16, there are 60 places at the College of which 20 are currently residential. The curriculum includes English & maths, textiles, metal work, jewellery, horticulture, catering, bakery, drama, music, independent living skills and a range of therapies. Practical Skills Therapeutic Education enables young people to grow in self-confidence, to learn to take personal responsibility and to develop relevant employability and independence skills.

A recommendation is then made about the suitability of the College to meet the young person’s need and a summary Assessment Report is then sent to parents & carers and to the relevant local authority commissioner.
