This course offers an introduction to Yoga practice. Not only does Yoga strengthen and tone the body, but it also works internally, strengthening organs, glands and enhancing the nervous and respiratory systems. It aids relaxation and concentration, leaving you with an overall sense of well-being.This course covers the following:-Basic concepts of Yoga philosophy and how they relate to Yoga practice-Practice key Yoga postures -Breathing awareness and simple breathing practice-Simple relaxation and meditation techniques No. Please note:To assist us in providing a safe and healthy environment for you to exercise in you will be asked to complete a Health Screening Checklist at the start of the course.There are certain conditions that you should be aware of before starting Yoga. Please consult with your doctor beforehand if you have one or more of the conditions listed below:-Low/high blood pressure-Back/spinal injuries, past or present-Severe back or neck ache-Glaucoma-Taking medication -Step-by-step instructions from a Yoga tutor to help you learn.-Regular checking of your progress through observing movement.-Verbal and visual feedback to correct movements and posture. The Tutor may also use slight hands on to correct and direct techniques. You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor will assess the progress you have made. We welcome your feedback as it is monitored and helps us to continually improve our courses. There are a number of opportunities for you to give your views at enrolment, during the course and at the end of your course. We also have a comments, suggestions and complaints form, this can be requested from HALS reception in Wood Green library at any stage.
