AS Level in Art and Design (Graphic Communication)

The Graphic Design course is run jointly through Art and Design & Technology. It encourages students to develop their skills and creativity as well as gaining an understanding of materials, equipment and techniques. Throughout the course we develop your knowledge of the history of art and design, and an appreciation for it. Areas of study include: •Illustration •Advertising •Packaging Design •Design for Print •Communication for Computer Graphics •Multimedia •Animation •Web Design •Film •Television and/or Video Students spend Term 1 working on a range of core skills which will take them through a range of focused tasks with different outcomes utilising those skills. In Terms 2 and 3 students work on a variety of projects which will give them the ability to develop and build on their skills. In February students start work on their extended project using the examination question as a starting point and they continue on this until study leave.
