This course is primarily aimed at graduates of the HND/FdA/BA in Fine Art at the College who wish to continue their engagement with professional practice. It will be of particular benefit to artists who wish to remain in a dialogue with professionally exhibiting tutors and other locally based artists interested in preparing a portfolio of work for postgraduate level. Course Content The course will take the form of evening group seminars and will be led by Samuel Herbert',' the programme leader for the Foundation Degree',' and James Brooks',' the BA Top-Up Co-ordinator. Both Samuel and James are professionally exhibiting artists. Each week two members of the group will individually present their work and this will initiate the basis of two consecutive seminar discussions. The course will run for 30 weeks',' September-May parallel with the College's terms. Each group member will have three seminars through the duration of the course. The seminars will seek to firstly identify any issues relating to the practice',' secondly respond to these issues and thirdly to offer a summation of the critical journey undertaken. As well as the evening seminars',' all students will have access to the College's library and will be invited to attend the visiting artist Friday afternoon lecture series',' which comprises 12 visiting artist lectures across the academic year. Entry Requirements: Applicants should hold a BA Degree or equivalent level qualification in Fine Art. Expressions of interest from candidates for this course who have equivalent professional or academic experience are welcomed. Acceptance on the course will be at the discretion of the College co-ordinators after an interview process.
