The CIPD Foundation Certificate in HR Practice provides a firm foundation in key areas of HR practice',' and builds students' understanding of the role they play as a member of the HR function in a broader organisational context. The course builds to help students to develop practical skills and understanding and above all greater confidence to be a more effective HR practitioner at work. The precise content and the running order of the subjects covered will vary',' and course tutors will explain what is on offer at the start of the course. To pass the Foundation Certificate',' students need to achieve 28 credits',' ten of which must come from the three core units which are as follows: 1. Developing yourself as an effective HR practitioner to develop a sound understanding of the knowledge',' skills and behaviour required for a professional HR practitioner who knows how to deliver timely and effective HR services to meet user needs. The unit involves self-reflection on own practice and development needs',' and requires that students maintain a plan for personal development. 2. Understanding organisations and the role of HR introduces student to the role that HT plans in an organisation and environmental context. Students develop an understanding of HR activities',' and how they support an organisation's strategy to achieve business objectives',' and how these are shaped by internal and external factors. 3. Recording',' analysing and using HR information focuses on the important contribution that accurate data (stored manually or electronically) can make to the HR function. It covers the legal implications of storing personal data',' and introduces students to the importance of recording data and information and to interpreting',' analysing and presenting those data for organisational decision making.
