Students who have enjoyed mathematics and who want to study an A-level subject that is increasingly recognised as a real asset for a wide range of career choices. • You are a problem solver, hardworking and have a passion for Maths • For those with a deeper interest in the Mathematics. • You can fluently do quadratics at GCSE level (factorise, completing the square, sketching and simultaneous quadratic equation) • You found most of the GCSE accessible and have not struggled with any algebra. What will I learn? You will study pure maths, further pure and a mixture of applied subjects covering mechanics, and statistics. You will learn about subjects such as vectors, functions, coordinate systems and complex numbers. You will do higher series and differential equations as well as polar coordinates. In mechanics kinematics is extended onto a plane, you learn about work, energy, power and collisions. Statistics extends your understanding of distributions and populations and decision maths introduces you to the mathematics behind networks and programming. There is no coursework.
