In Year 12 you will acquire a broad knowledge and understanding of the core areas of Psychology (social, cognitive, developmental, biological and individual differences) through studying a range of accessible life topics. Introductory Topics in Psychology will cover: • Cognitive psychology including memory and eyewitness testimony. • Developmental psychology including attachment, early social development and adult relationships. • Social influence including majority and minority influence, explanations of obedience and the role of social change. Psychology in Context will cover: • Approaches in Psychology including the behaviourist approach and the biological approach. • Biopsychology including the divisions of the nervous system and the function of the endocrine system. • Individual differences including definitions of abnormality, approaches and therapies. • Research methods in the context of the topic areas. In Year 13 you will study topics in greater depth e.g. relationships, psychopathology. Explanations from different psychological approaches will be brought together which will engage you in the issues and debates of Psychology.
