In History at A level we aim to broaden both historical knowledge and skills. The period covered centres on British and European History during the sixteenth century, a time when the religious and political landscape of Europe changed dramatically. In addition you will study a fascinating range of people and events, as well as being able to investigate a period of your own choosing in year 13. This course is a new linear A level. If you choose to take the AS over one year you will study Spain in the Age of Discovery, 1469-1556 and Religious Conflict and the Church in England 1529-47 (during Henry VIII’s reign). If you choose to study A-level over two years the same topics are extended: Spain in the Age of Discovery, 1469-1598 and Religious Conflict and the Church in England 1529-1603. A level students also complete an historical enquiry.
