The AS and A2 courses consist of 3 modules each, 2 of Core Maths and 1 Applied Maths. Core Maths is the study of topics such as algebra, trigonometry, calculus and sequences. For the AS course students study Mechanics as their applied module, which is the application of maths to problems in Physics and engineering such as the flight of projectiles or the acceleration of a car. For A2 the applied module is Statistics which is the study of large sets of numerical data and also probability.
