The course builds on GCSE studies, allowing students to study music to a deeper level. Students develop their performance, composition and musical understanding skills throughout the two years. The course will allow students to develop their skills in all aspects of music, and encourages students to focus on their passion for music further.

The performances will be assessed at the end of the course, when the students’ will perform in a public concert, this is recorded and then sent off to the examiner to be marked. The compositions will comprise of two scores and recordings, these will be externally assessed. Unit 3 is assessed as a listening and appraising exam at the end of the course, which will include listening and essay style questions.
