UPDATED 20151006 14:25:07

This is an exciting new course being offered which is based purely on coursework and practical assessments. This course would be highly suitable for those who have serious interest in science who would be interested in moving into the Forensic Science sector for further study or progressing into a career. Whilst studying applied science you will develop personal organisational skills, production skills, practical, evaluative and analytical values with involving and immersive simulated crime-scene scenarios and practical experiments. Applied Science - Forensic Science is suitable if you: - Enjoy science, especially the practical side - Want to learn about key scientific principles in the scope of applications in real-world situations - Think logically and methodically - Are organised and able to use feedback to improve your work and working method - Enjoy problem-solving and working both independently and as part of an active team - Are interested in pursuing further education in an applied science or entering a science-based position of employment or apprenticeship. The course is split into a total of seven modules - three core and four optional. These optional modules have been selected due to both their forensic relevance and their desirability by universities for the studying of Forensic Science. The seven modules will be studied over the course of two years, and be equivalent to one A-level. The option of taking an extra three modules in addition to those detailed above may be available for higher ability students who wish to increase their portfolio of skills and knowledge. These modules will be studied in the same amount of time as the subsidiary diploma (two years), but the qualification obtained would be equivalent to one and a half A-levels. A merit at BTEC Level 2 Applied Science will be accepted as an equivalent to a science GCSE. Assessment 100% coursework over the 2 years
