BTEC Diploma in Travel & Tourism (equivalent to 2 A Levels) By choosing the Diploma students will receive an extended qualification in the same subject. For many, this allows them to not just develop their knowledge of Travel & Tourism, but also to gain an additional subject qualification without stretching into a new subject area. Travel and Tourism is one of the worlds biggest industries, it is also one of the most interesting. Travel and Tourism at Tring School provides students with an excellent opportunity to gain knowledge in this exciting, interesting and rewarding subject. The course is flexibly structured to give candidates plenty of choice to form qualifications that are individual to them and their interests within the subject area. The course of study is designed so that it can be undertaken by candidates entering the area for the first time. The key is having an interest in any form of travel Visits to tourist organisations are organised to enhance understanding and aid completion of coursework. Over the past year this has include visits to: Disneyland Paris, Brighton, The New Forest, London, Thorpe Park, Kuoni Travel, Holiday Inn, The BTEC in Travel & Tourism is a new course specifically designed to allow students to progress into further education, employment or to develop their interest in the subject. Research has shown the 62% of large companies have recruited employees with a BTEC qualification, in addition, 26% of students entering university also hold a BTEC qualification
Name: Travel and Tourism (Double award) BTEC Qualification title: - Qualification type: GCE A/AS Level or equivalent Assessment Coursework units account for 87.5% of the final grade (7 units). The remaining unit is based on case study examinations, this allows students to work at their own pace and with less pressure of a high number of summer exams.
