Leisure Studies at Tring School provides students with an excellent opportunity to take an exciting, interesting and rewarding subject. The content has been designed to provide knowledge and understanding in Leisure Studies whilst encouraging students to explore the breadth of this extremely varied industry. Results in both AS and A2 Levels have been excellent. 90% of students achieved A-C grade at AS in 2012 and 80% of students gained A-C grades at A2. Visits to leisure organisations are organised to enhance understanding and aid completion of coursework. Over the past year this has include visits to: David Lloyd - Luton, Sportspace, Chelsea Football Club, Twickenham, Thorpe Park, Tower of London, Disneyland Paris. Both AS and A2 levels comprise of 66% coursework and 33% exam. The course will be ideally suited to those preferring these assessment methods. You will: * Gain a broad understanding of the Leisure industry and study selected areas of the industry to develop skills, knowledge and understanding * Have an opportunity to apply learning in a practical and realistic way * Follow a programme of study that enables progression to both higher education and employment in the Leisure industry * Develop Key Skills that are highly valued by both employers and universities * Gain confidence through developing independent learning skills This course will appeal to those students who: * want to study a course that is active and enjoyable * want/have a keen interest in leisure and recreation * enjoy studying a subject that is relevant to their own lives and experience * want the opportunity to carry out practical work outdoors as well as class work * enjoy discovering about themselves in practical situations * want to find out more about the subject through personal investigation * are interested in developing an understanding of organisations, the markets they serve and how to deal with customers effectively
