AQA Specification You will study Sociology through a variety of teaching and learning methods. Each session will aim to develop your sociological understanding. You will be expected to be active in lessons taking part in sociological research, seminars, presentations, lectures, and peer group teaching. Your active role in lessons will help you to maintain your enthusiasm for the subject, hold your interest and help you to enjoy the experience of finding out about the society in which we live. The Sociology A level will open your mind to the society in which we live. It will broaden your horizons and lead to a qualification with skills widely demanded in many careers. Sociology can be combined with other subjects such as Geography, Psychology, Economics and Business Studies to provide a study programme that is linked to careers and courses in business management, personnel, health and social welfare. Students will study three units across the two year course. Paper 1: Education with Theory and Methods Paper 2: Topics in Sociology: Family & Households and Mass Media Paper 3: Crime and Deviance with Theory & Methods Core themes include: socialisation, culture & identy, social differentiation, power stratification.
